I thought folks were talking about bamboo for making tools?

Mostly, here in Japan, they use rattan for teapot handles, along with
the wrapped bamboo ones. For vine handles here, they use
wisteria. Carol Ann pointed out a big box of wisteria vine at the
Mashiko clay cooperative and told him he could teach making handles up
North if he wanted to. Tony didn't bite on that one. :-)

I get firewood from a nearby grape farm. Suppose I could get vine
from them. Always have made clay handles in the past. Though, I
have been shipping handles to a friend in Seattle and picking out
handles for him has got me interested in rattan handles
