Thanks for all your suggestions/information.
My friend called today and said that she'd misread
the signature and it is DeLaney.... a Beauford
(?) DeLaney, she thinks. She was embarrassed
to find that I'd asked Clayart when she'd given
me the wrong name. She doesn't like the
paintings herself, but apparently her mother was
enamored of DeLaney's work and had several.
It's kind of fun to see this develop.
