Hi,
I have replaced my first edition of the Ceramic Glaze Handbook with
the corrected version.

Has anyone tried/and or had success with his
low fire glazes "Odyssey Clear Base Gloss" or "Jackie's Base Satin"?
I am preparing to try out some low-fire clears and these are under
consideration.

Is there anyone with any experience with these? Thanks
Barbara

Barbara,

I have not used these glazes because I do not use low-fire glazes. I would
note, however, that when Burleson's recipes call for "Gerstley Borate
Substitute," that means Laguna Borate (see p. 18). I am not sure if you
substitute Gerstley Borate or any of the other GB substitutes on the market
that you will get the same results.

I would suggest that if you use Burleson's suggestion for 4% Copper
Carbonate the Odyssey glaze that you test for stability of the copper--if it
is functional ware that may hold food.
