hardly a cracked shelf

I've used Thorley's 12X24's for over 25 years. Must have 40 or more. Maybe
one or two cracked shelves in all this time. Wider than 12 inch ware goes on
Thorley big ass 24X24's. Fired in bisque to cone 08 and to cone 10 hundreds
of times. I believe in posting shelves sufficiently. 6 posts to a 12X24. 8
to a 24X24. Flip the shelves every firing. Never have been kiln washed. Sure
they have some glaze drips. When floured with silica and a tad of alumina
before loading, glaze drips can be easier to remove. Stubborn places are
ground off level and a paste of silica applied over the spot for the next
firing. Never have been wet. Stored inside after every firing. Those
shelves that have cracked I have cut them and made half shelves or tiny
quarter shelves for those tricky small places. Take care of your equipment
and they will serve you well.
