electric firing and ramp rates

Hi folks,

As I get more involved with glaze development and kiln firing I am
finding it necessary to better understand my kiln. I have the
Bartlett 3K controller which can be programmed with up to 4 separate
schedules, each having 7 segments. The ramp rates are from 0 to 9999.
Does anyone know what these ramp rates can be correlated to? For
example, the following is my glaze firing schedule:

Seg. Ramp, Temp, Hold
1 120 200 0
2 240 1250 0
3 350 2185 0
4 99 2230 00:30

So, for someone such as myself, with limited but growing kiln-firing
experience, what can I think of that would form a good example as a way
of correlating the ramp rate to something I would have familiarity with?
I'm not saying this as clearly as I would like. If one were to equate
firing a kiln to driving a car, what would a ramp rate of 99 be? Of 350?

The above schedule is just a starting point for me. I usually candle for
several hours at 200 F and then go into seg 2. But as I get more
involved with my "Heavy Glaze Questions" and their answers, will I see a
difference in a ramp rate of 325 as opposed to 350 during the later
stages? Or do I have to really change those ramp numbers significantly
to see any kind of difference with my firings?
