Dear Friends,
I think there is a need for some sort of a Course for Potters and
Ceramic artists who are unsure about their abilities to cope with
Scientific Concepts that are used in obtaining an understanding of
Clay and Glaze.
For My First Lesson I wish you to make some observations, for
Observation, with the capital "O" is the first step in any scientific
investigation. Observation and its adjunct skill, Recording provide
the evidence which you, as a Scientific Artist, need if you are to
make good sense of what is happening.

Elementary Science 101 for Potters and Ceramic Artists.
For your first task I wish you to take an unused Candle, the type
which is usually pale in colour with a cotton wick. You also need
paper on which to write and something to write with. Study your candle
carefully for a few minutes then, using a single sentance for each
instance, write down a statement which tells something of the candle.
Be sure to use a separate sentence for each instance.
When you have completed this task to your own satisfaction allow me to
read your list. When we have done that we may confere. If you are
ready for the next task we can procede, otherwise I will guide you
onwards.
Work hard and do your best. I am not marking you on your spelling.
