fired for the first time - cone questions

I just fired my little baby kiln for the first time! Actually, it's the
first time I've fired any kiln all by my self. I didn't set anything on fire, so
I'm happy :-) I do have 2 cone questions though. I made those little cone
packs w/3 cones. I pressed the cones into the clay, but they didn't stick, so
consequently I thought one was down, when it seems to have just fallen over.
So, when you make your conepacks, are the cones supposed to be stuck into the
clay? or just set on top of the clay?

Also, my last cone didn't melt, which is what I expected. Can I re-use that
unmelted cone or do I need to toss it?

I was attempting to bisque. Since it seems I may have shut off the kiln
early, is there some way I can tell if I successfully bisqued? Should I try &
reheat the pieces or just try to do a better job next time?

Sorry for the neophyte questions, but I figured they'd come up when I fired
for the first time myself. At least it's very exciting to be doing it all
alone!

THanks in advance,
Simona in beautiful Colorado
