not a chicken head..

The handle of my pot really is not a chicken head, it's just too little
paddle looking things with hands on them holding a fat coil patterned
hendley-style... yes, the little faces are little faces.. all different
attitudes..

three people wrote and asked me where i find the time/energy.. i am
bewildered by that. I never get up before 9am and just kind of plug
through my day at a slow but steady pace, trying to be useful.. and
stopping to do some hammock surfing once in a while).. like that joke
about the young bull and the old bull.. run? hey, let's WALK down the
hill..

most of what happens around here happens on its own.. gooseberries bloom
and fruit and spread every year under my careful neglect.. as do
children, tomatoes, chickens..

The only tip i have for finding time is that if you are doing what you
want to do you never run out of enthusiasm for it.. ever sit down at the
wheel and look up to find hours have flown? My kids learn voraciously
and with little interference formme because they choose their own
subjects.. all these labors of love are of my choosing, which makes a
big difference. I have no deadlines, no time on or off, follow they
rhythms and whims of the day. I inherited a german/irish work ethic but
I do not consider myself especially energetic and certainly not
organized.. what i do NOT get done would amaze folks..

one more thing i will confess to is that I do not watch tv, not really,
not at all. Folks pressed for time can find an hour a day or more by
giving that a try..

life is short, but it's wide..

yours, kelly in Ohio (not a chicken head. i will make the picture
enlargeable later tonight after i teach at the guild. )

maple "flyers" pattering down on the deck, on the roof .. making me
think of mel's trees, my children, the saplings popping up in the eaves
and herb garden, the deep unspeakable loss that it must be to lose a
grown child, to addiction or to death... i make a choice not to watch
CNN, not to think about the draft and drugs and my children's futures..
except when i take them by the collar once in a while and say, your life
is yours, the choices yours, the consequences yours.. my eldest now 10,
gazing toward teens, wondering about "freedom" (and its partner,
responsibility)..

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for the description! I wouldn't worry too much about making the picture bigger.
For SOME reason (maybe 'cause I had just finished looking at that cute little chicken tractor or perhaps all the chicken posts lately) I had a "bird brain" moment & saw chickens in everything!!
THANKS!
Logan

After rooming and later car-chatting with Kelly, I learned two
particularly cogent things about her (among many others): 1) she is
very observant, and 2) she focuses on whatever she happens to be doing.
Both are time-savers. Add good brain and good heart and you've got
Kelly.
