Hi Sam,

Well said...

Truely, I at least sometimes am not deferential enough to a
subject either, being about my own view or passing
references as allude merely to abstractions or features I
ascribe or associate to something...features as may be
incidental or impertenaint to the subject's deeper imports,
or more salient essence...

I too began a reply, but it got soon too long and wangy, and
I did not send it.

I imagine, these matters were being spoken of, in effect,
figuratively, as many of us do at times, or as I certainly
do at times, or, that there are indeed many degrees or kinds
of 'Faith' in practice, or many tenses of what the term
'Religion' may in practice mean or connote for others to
appear to be...and, as may confuse
the issue for the casual observations, or uses, of
bye-standers.

Being I think from the old Roman verb, of 'to-bind'...(that
is, the term 'religion' itself, as a term...) So, broadly,
figuratively, poetically even, it finds use sometimes as a
term, for reference to one's being bound-to something,
obliged, or one's subscription or sunjegation to something,
or an acquiescence to something even.

Or, I think in this sense, what was meant, is a euphemism
for pedantism and rote...a connotation which some may feel
their exposure to banalities of what sometimes passes, for
some people, under the term religion, or how that, as an
abstract, may have casually earned as an easy
association to make...

A matter of tenses, for me anyway...tenses 'of'...as I must
supply as I may when reading...or listening.

I wish sometimes there were an exponential notation for many
terms, as to denote the kind of connotation, or tense, the
author intends it to have.

Oh well...there is not!

Best wishes,

Phil
