Sorry Lois, I meant to send that to the list, not just you.. not that you aren't worthy or my individual attention.:P

I'm new to the list.

I've been reading a book titled, making a living as an artist, in there they state that for every 50 rejections you get, you may get 3-4 acceptances, possible interviews and contacts for further information. So don't let the rejections get you down. Keep Pluggin' away and you won't fail, at least not miserably.

~Stäcy... a painter, not a potter, but one who paints pictures of ceramics. (I figure the better I know my subject, the better my work will be.)

I keep a binder of the rejection notices I receive, just for kicks. I
especially like the ones that start "Dear Craft Show Applicant". I know
there's no other way around it, and I do have a sense of humor about the
whole rejection thing.

By the way, the same set of slides that got me into the Philly Museum show
got me rejected by a local crafts show a month before. So you never know
what's in their minds, or when it's your turn.

Hello Kathy,
Your work is beautiful, and looks very professional to me-but apparently, it's not what they're looking for. I would be interested to know just how they define "professional" or "good enough"; that is to say, just what IS their criteria?
Please don't let whatever their criteria is define you as an artist-it always saddens me to see someone losing their confidence just because someone else rejects their work. I say-THEIR LOSS!
Keep on creating those beautiful pieces,
Julia

Come on people, enough is enough. We have established
that Kathy makes good pots. We have also established
that CM doesn't pick what goes in a Geil Kiln ad,
someone else does. I find it curious that I have read
nothing regarding clarification from Kathy about the
episode. Because her original post really didn't make
much sense. She attributed the negative feedback as
coming from CM not Geil. And the feedback, if from CM
seemed a little inconsistent.

Because why would they say what she said they said if
they DIDN'T choose the pictures for the ad?
