big praise for shimpo whisper wheel

Oh WOW. I just threw my first pots on the Shimpo Whisper (footpedal
model) demo wheel I bought at NCECA.

It's..... SILENT. Really.
Never would have believed such a thing was possible. My radio is turned
down, I can talk on the phone while throwing( not something I do often)
and it's just so cool to have less noise...

The pedal is a tinch sticky, but I figure I can tinker with it. And
they say it's gear driven, so maybe I won't have the problems with it
that I've had with my Pacifica pedal....

I've given my 1971 Shimpo to my assistant Amy, who will have her own
studio some time soon. I just couldn't take money for it: like selling
a relative or something..... I've had it since my second year in
college! My middle aged joints just didn't like the old pedal style
any more... I needed one on the floor

Take Care
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, I'll second that. I have the new Whisper VL too and love it. I
too have some probems with the old back and may sometime need to try
throwing standing up. I'm glad to have that option now. I too had a 1970
model Shimpo which I loved.

On the new one, I am finding the pedal a "tinch sticky" too so if you figure
out how to correct that please let me know. It just sticks at the very
beginning.

Only problem I have with the wheel is that I forget to turn it off because
it is absolutely silent!

Enjoy your new wheel...I certainly am.

Me too! The pedal is a bit too sticky so if either of
you find out what to do, please let me know as well.

Thanks!

We should be asking Shimpo or the dealer we bought it from...just haven't
had time yet.
