Hey Kasia,
What a wonderful place to visit. You won't have time to rest there is so =
much to do. There is the Blue Spiral Galley and New Morning Gallery that =
are a definite must see. I went just 2 weeks ago and the Blue Spiral has =
these wonderful clay sculptures that are just amazing not to mention the =
paintings that are there right now. I could've looked for hours. New =
Morning Gallery is so full of pottery that they put the excess on the =
floor. ( these two galleries are owned by the same people so ask them =
for directions if you need help finding the other gallery or any other =
art related place. they are really friendly)
There is also the Folk Art Museum near Black Mountain which is really a =
short distance and worth the trip.=20
And if you are going that far you should really drive on up the mountain =
to Penland School of Crafts. I can't say enough good things about =
Penland and you won't believe the gallery they have there.
If you have time the Biltmore house is beautiful but it is completely =
unrelated to clay.
Have a great time,
Leanne Pizio

Folk Art Center not musem, Downtown Asheville has many Galleries also
with Aerial on Haywood street the most prominent... it is run by Artists as a
coop of some sort. Jane Pieser is one of my favorite clay people and this
is what I believe to be the only place she sells her work out side of her own
studio and any shows she may do.. Heck a walk downtown is a
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ as its all ART !!! Heck I remember when tumble weed was about
the only thing moving down those streets

Southern Highlands Crafts Guild has 2 galleries in Asheville. The Folk Art
Center on the parkway and another on Tunnel road called guild crafts and
both are worth a trip. THere is also a book out with craft trails for potters
and other artists in the area and you can pick it up at Highwater Clays or
call Hand Made in America and ask where they sell it.. could be the visitors
Center would carry it ... Speaking of Highwater Clay they also have a ceramic
only gallery that is open only certain hrs right next door to the main office
and the odyssey cntr is on the other side of them... its my favorite store (
highwater)

I also live about 10 minutes from downtown Asheville ( if you know the
short cuts 15 if not) I will be in GLAZE MODE and firing back to back to
back to back at this point and not sure if you concider that really exciting or
not Give me a call if you'd like to come up and see a Clay arter at
work. Maybe you'll be lucky and the gas kiln will be roaring. away... I am up to
my ying yang in pots here... and today is last day to make anymore...

Warmest Regards, Cat Jarosz in Leicester ( how do you pronounce that)
NC where its overcast and gloomy but the tulips have heads now wooo
