This way has been paved for me...

First the Big Ceramics Store and now Creative Industries...

I had a call from a gentlemam at Creative Industries and he suggested an
Artista wheel for this student to use. So I agreed and he has sold me one at
a very incredible discount. He would have given me one for free, but I do
have grant funding and I insisted. A few other items came in at lower prices
than I had planned, so I just had enough money to pay for it - $10 more and
I wouldn't have. He will be getting a report of how the wheel performs for
her. I am very grateful.

But if this hadn't happened, I think I would have had to follow suggestions
received. Aside from this gal, I do have a student in a wheel chair and with
a lot of loss of muscle tone. I don't think she will be able to throw on the
wheel at all. We're going to try, and I sure hope she surprises all of us,
but I am not really holding out a lot of hope. But there are plenty of other
things we can do with her. I think we will probably have to try a few before
we hit on one that will work for her, but so far, she's being such a good
sport! (They all are, actually. Wonderful people. Just the best.)

Now, if only I could get some of the big non profit groups to live up to
their mission statements! No help whatsoever. They are really annoying me.
You'd think they'd want to get more involved. Trying to get publicity lined
up is becoming a problem - even at the most local level. I really need to
just focus on the students - that's what it really is all about. I'm hoping
it will fall into place when the class really starts. BUT... I hate pulling
a Scarlet O'Hara act: Oh, I can't worry about that today, I'll just have to
worry about it tomorrow."

So, the clay people are pulling though and supporting me more than I could
possibly have hoped for or even expected. The others are just presenting
stumbling blocks.

A somewhat exasperated, but still hopeful,
S
