using old cones

I just wanted to give a little input about cones. I am using cones that =
must be at least ten years old, probably more. I have no problems at =
all. I have cones that range from 06 all the way up to 20 ( I low fire) =
and they all function properly and they are all very old. I also store =
them in my garage, where my kiln is located, and the weather has exposed =
them to temperatures close to zero all the way above 100 (I live in =
Reno, NV. and the weather changes drastically from season to season) and =
they still perform beautifully.
My point is that it must be a malfunction in your autositter, as =
everyone else has stated. Cones, at least my cones, seem to be very =
tolerant to age, weather, etc. and they shouldn't be the source of the =
problem.=20

Although I haven't tested the cones performance after exposing them to =
other things, such as soaking them in boiling water or burning them in =
my fireplace and then testing them out in my kiln. HaHaHa!! Maybe even =
running them over to test there durability?=20
