Hi Brian
What do you mean you are interested in formulating your own glazes?
pero - not to technical.

So you are interested in the materials you are using? For example
what is in Wollastonite and why add it to the glaze? Or are you
interested in, this glaze is crazing - can I adjust it to fit my clay body?

There is a wealth of information out there. It is hard to suggest one.
A good ceramic software program in the one Tony H created --
www.digitalfire.com It is a bit technical but when you grow into it
you will appreciate the fact it has a excellent record keeping system.
Get a free download to check it out. Tony lives and breaths this stuff
for 30 years and will give you excellent support.

Ron Roy's book is great for the cone 6 electric range. He has crossed his
t's and doted the i's. The glazes he has posted in his book have been
tested and are beautifully illustrated. He has a series of 5 glazes ranging
from low to high expansion and it is a great starting point to test your
clays out
to understand glaze fit.

The potters dictionary is like the potters bible- excellent source
book. Check out www.ceramicmaterials.info - this is also a site Tony
created.
Ian Curries books are good for mixing up glazes in a grid -- in combination
with
molecular formulation -- you'll be mixing up any glaze you need. I want a
alumina
matte or Calcium matte, or cone 6 boron glossy - no problem, whip it up -
Voila.
Good Luck Brian
