I am going to be buying a new electric kiln and I am looking at the Skutt production line, km1227 and the L & L easy fire e28T. I would appreciate any feedback or recommendations from clayarters on these kilns.

Thanks,
Linda

Linda, I bought an L&L because of the element holders, among other reasons.
The Skutts we used at the school looked like the "other kiln" in L&L's ad.
So far I have done 10 firings, both bisque and Cone 6 and am quite
pleased with it. I got the short model because I am five foot one and had
trouble loading the 1227 at the school, having to dive headfirst into it to
load the bottom shelf. I've been glad I got the easy to load e28S. The
easy fire mode is indeed easy, and you can add a preheat and/or controlled
cooldown to any easyfire program.
I would have liked at least two more shelves. Six came with it, and by
the time I used two for the floor as recommended I didn't have much shelf
room left, especially as I fire a lot of plates and flat stuff, so I ended
up buying four more half shelves.
Their representative Robert was very knowledgeable and helpful when I
had some questions right at first.
From my experience with the kiln and the company I wouldn't hesitate to
recommend an L&L.

whatever you buy get it from bennets supply if fla, they are by far the cheapest i have found. i have also been debating getting a skutt or l and l. i have used both in the past. both are good ,,,but the element holders on the l and l are a good feature.

Yes, I agree! Bennetts is great. Kind knowledgeable people answer the
phone and work hard for you! I have bought several large things from them,
plus kiln shelves etc. over the years. I have had 2 L&L's for 14 years. I
really do appreciate the element holders. Have not used any other kind for
a long time.

Both kilns should serve you well, but I'd vote for the L&L based on
my 20+ years of working/repairing them - just easier to change
elements. FYI - I have also repaired Skutt kilns.
