welcome to the world of future mosaic parts,
i am finding that glazes have their own preferences, the slow cooling is a
must for your matte type glazes,i have seen a big difference in colors on
the floating blue that i use based on the cooling rate, slower cooling gives
me more greens and brown under tones, not as slow and i actually get some
whites that break through.the slower the cool the better my mattes. when it
just dont work out there are some great boks on mosaic work, for an outlet
HAMMER TIME.
i have good luck with cool to 2100 soak on med for 2-3 hours this brings me
to about 1900,then i go on to low til it reaches 1500 . oh yeah, peep
holes out to fire and plug them all up for cooling, pyrometer in the middle
hole with fiber to seal it up. 10 cubic ft.
my small kils are almost impossible to control so i am not using them for
mattes or floating glazes to preserve my sanity .
