I think Groundhog's day is the greatest day in the year - next to the day after winter solstice.Ought to be a national holiday. Hey - we're a world wide group - make that a WORLD HOLIDAY.

I wonder is Punxatawney Phil is male or female? Does it matter?

Aside from Earth day, do we have any? Sure is politically correct.

I agree that there's something special about groundhog day. But be
careful, it's not exactly PC. Animals are considered "familiars" and
apparently witches are very into GHD. see
But like
many pagan holidays, 'Candlemas' became a Christian feast day.

In 1991 I missed sending out my usual Christmas holiday cards and
instead sent out a Happy Groundhog Day card (poor repro at
).

Inside it read:
behind the dim unknown
Standeth God within the shadow, keeping watch above his own.

Happy Groundhog Day!

I don't know if Punxatawey Phil is a male or a female but have met his/her
owners when they came to get a ground hog to replace one who died. The
main thing is to have one who is use to being around people. Ground hogs
actually make sweet, funny pets if properly trained at a young age... I've
known quite a few that were a blast to play with.

Pinky in cold MN where the ground hogs have been hibernating since Nov.
Ours wouldn't come out today to see the sun.

Oops! forgot to add all the usually disclaimers. Do not take any wild
animal out of the wild, it could be dangerous and illegal.

Pinky in MN... minus 20 degrees and falling
