Is it possible to tile an existing tub's floor ? Finish is very worn. =
Plumbing accessable so that drain could be raised. Tub floor is quite =
flat (early 40's) - enameled finish. Side walls quite perpendicular - =
small curve near junction of floor to wall of tub. Tub is used as shower =
and maybe once every couple of years is used as a bathtub.

Has anyone attempted this ? Success?=20

I have been considering this and think either small tiles or laying in =
slab and cutting it to shapes/patterns. I have also considered the =
paint that is available to do this project.

Marj:
Before attempting this project, check your local phone book for the name of
the local tub/sink/bath fixture refinisher.
I also considered doing what you propose to
my tub, and on checking with the refinisher, found that he could re-spray
the tub (in my choice of colors!) for less than $400. Turned
out to be cheaper than I could do the tile for, and the finish has held up
like new for these past five years.

If you are determined to do tile or slab, you will want to use a waterproof
epoxy or silicone adhesive to get the tile to stick permanently to the tub,
and your grout should also be of a waterproof variety.

Just a thought.
