necea conference

Hi
I got a taste of conferences when I was able to attend Lacrosse this
summer and it looks like this will be close enough for me to drive to. I have a
friend from the list that would be interested in sharing expenses. The problem
is I am a teacher (art K-12 currently 6-8) and they have denied my request
for the conference. (budget cuts, etc.) I am appealing it and paying for
everything and would not get any compensation in any way from my school district.
What I do want is two days off with a sub. Any and all ideas to help stack my
case would be appreciated. My principle believes in conferences this is a
district decision so he is trying to help me. I would like to turn it in by the
end of the week so I can confirm hotel reservations etc. If you have any
ideas or suggestions for presenting my case, please e-mail me. This is my 50th
birthday present to myself. Thanks, Dawn
p.s. I know we are potters but one of my students just placed in the final 50
in the national Cray-pas wonderful, colorful art contest. She's a great
student and I am very proud of her.

Mental health days -- sick days. eye problems, can't see yourself
going in to work. as long as you leave a decent lesson plan...and
your
principal thinks its a good idea. actually, I had one principal who
approved
letting me go to NCECA as professional developement

Millie who doesn't want to go back to teaching in the public school
system in Md.

Dawn,

If they do not approve your request, maybe the Chinese food you will eat
around conference time will make you sick?

Thank you.
