Hey Mel,
I'd love to respond to this but it would just sound too much like brown nosing!

Here's my weak and trembling voice:

I am nowhere near being an artist yet.
I'm still working on finding my signature 'look'.
I have to work to earn a living and make pots to stay sane.
I want to make memorable pieces, but can't yet.
Am I the potter that galleries imagine when they scorn truly artistic
pieces?
Should I become a closet potter until I feel worthy of acclaim?
Should I ask forgiveness for my crude pots?
I have sold a fair amount of pieces, but now I'm wondering if they were all
just uneducated jerks who bought them...or friends with big hearts.

Anyway, I kind of like that "60's hippy image.
dirty potter, rag around the head...making crap...but, most of
us have nothing to do with that, and never did. but, the
image remains" thing. I don't want to think that what I make is crap, but I
guess it will have to be...each successive pot gaining a little more grace
as I continue along my learning curve.

I dream of someone finding a piece of my pottery in an antique store and
uttering to herself...wow, it's a fishtailspotter piece!

The road is long, and I'm getting old.

Regards, Andrea the maker of fishtails

Don't worry about this too quickly. Work from the heart. Have
patience. Let the work inform you.

Go for it!
"Anything you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. "

- Goethe

"Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always
ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is
one elemental truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and
splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never
otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."

- William H. Murray, The Scottish Himalayan Expedition
