kiln contamination question

What is the big deal about the lead inside the kiln? I don't produce =
dinnerware, so should it matter? I do use lead glazes sometimes and I =
never thought of the kiln getting contaminated. It seems a little =
overboard for this to be an issue, especially if I don't make =
dinnerware. I mean, are you supposed to have two kilns if you are making =
dinnerware and also have other pieces with lead glaze? If I ever do make =
dinnerware, is my kiln totally useless? How do I get rid of the lead in =
it? Does the lead really contaminate a piece just because the kiln had =
been used in the past with lead glazed pieces? Thanks,
Rachel
