Lela Thanks for mentioning us here, we love visitors at Plainsman. The
best Northern Lights
I saw was out by Lethbridge with a friend of mine, a land rover and a dog.
Found
a good spot beside the old man river and camped in the middle of
summer. The lights were
spectacular. The most important thing is don't be anyway near city lights
and have a crisp cloudless night, (if there is no northern lights out -
enjoy the stars) Wow!

I did some tests a long time ago with magnesium (for a crawling glaze) I
started with a low fire
glaze base. Added magnesium in small amounts from 10% up to 20%. I
believe I got crawling
at about 15%. -- a really good crawling glaze with a shinny coating in
between the islands of glaze. Magnesium has a low thermal expansion and
prevents crazing.
