David -
The problem is that these little "silent" units cannot keep up with a decent
spray gun, and they generally do not have a storage tank, and therefore are
pretty useless except for powering an airbrush. Also, any reference to
"oil-less" or "maintenance-free" is really a rip-off, because it means that
there is nothing you can do to increase the longevity of the device. Far
better to get a larger compressor with a belt-drive and a cast iron
compressor cylinder or a cast iron cylinder sleeve. Either one will last
you the rest of your life. There is lots of information available on this
in the archives.
Good luck -

Say,
there's a lot of info about HVLP sprayers and spray guns and whatnot but
nothing on the use of Silent Oil-less Air Compressors. These are small
units that are used in furniture finishing and dental offices and
airbrushing. They can deliver up to 2 CFM at about 80-100 psi. seems good
for someone in need of quiet spraying.

I'm wondering of anyone uses one of these and if they work well with glazes.
My problem has been that glazes need to be applied rather thick and most
small compressors can't push the fluid out of the gun at this thickness.

The Shark series of these compressors list ceramics as a use. If that's the
case, someone here has got to use one.

Any comments on these, they are really expensive I know that. I'm needing
to set up a unique quiet spray booth in my NYC loft. I can't aggravate off
my neighbors too much.. I'm also setting up a special booth to deal with
the glaze particles.
