call for entries - show of calendar works?

updated thu 11 dec 03

Greetings y'all! I have been given an idea. I sent the call for entries information to CM, thinking it would be listed with all the other entries. O no! I am informed that because this would be for a publication, I have to pay for an ad, UNLESS there is an exhibition of the works that are featured in the calendar.

At this time, there is no entry fee involved with submitting work for consideration. I do have a venue and a time slot reserved at THe Marshall Gallery for a show next October. This can very easily BECOME an exhibit, if there is interest.

So, what do y'all think? LMK asap. Thanks. :)

Do you mean a real-time showing of the pieces selected? That would be
awesome, but it might change what people submit. Some pieces, for instance, might be
so fragile that they might not ship well. Nevertheless the number of ideas
that this place generates sometimes is just mind-boggling.

I'm all for it. I guess you would have to work out the details ( I hear
thats where the devil lurks) before I would say okie dokie for sure.
What did you have in mind?

hehheh....will definitely work out the details, and if this does turn into a
show, will prolly extend the deadline a bit so folks who wouldn't usually
apply for calendar entry can have something for the show if they wanna.
More details to follow, but the email I'm getting has all but one been in
favor of the idea.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I had a show at The Marshall Gallery this
past summer featuring 6 potters of varying styles, that did well overall,
and got really good feedback. I have another show scheduled next October,
for which I would be looking for other potters to exhibit in addition to
myself (ever try to fill 300+ square feet by yourself? YIKES!!!!) anyway,
so this could be perfect in that it would fill the space, AND at that time
of year, sales will be pickign up for the holidays. :)
