placement of oxyprobe in downdraft kiln

As many of you are aware, I am in the process of building a new
kiln. It's a downdraft car kiln that Vince has designed for me. The
brickwork is all done now, Burners are in the process of being
plumbed in, and a larger meter from the gas co. is scheduled to be
installed next week. At this point I'm ready to install the Axner
Oxyprobe that I've decided to use with it. I've never used an
oxyprobe before, but I've heard enough praise for it from people
whose opinions I respect on this list. It sits still in it's
packaging in my living room right now.

I'm wondering where the best place to mount the probe would be. At
what position will it give me the most representative sample of what
is going on in the whole kiln?
