Thanks to everyone who answered my questions on CMC. As usual, you all are
so knowledgable that I got more than I asked for!
The CMC DID help with "brushability", which was what I was wondering. Got
a few responses on how to calculate the proportions (if only I'd known as a
child how much I would need math...!), and density, but I went with Snail's
method of a pinch. It worked fine. Hasn't spoiled yet either!
