Reading the lines on human ash I agree with Ms. Proper Noun, Snail, bone ash
is a flux. When I mixed up the 20 x 5 formula I cut the wollastonite with the
human ash. The results are good. I tried it with a simple Shino recipe
however and got crazy crazing like you would not believe. Bone Ash as flux, yep.

Good grief -- for once I am speaking from experience and not asking a
question!

Dear Jonathan;

Yes, bone ash has calcium in it along with its phosphorus, just as talc
has magnesia along with its silica. So each is a mixture of flux and
glass former, not 'just' a flux.
