Women's Studio Workshop
Chili Bowl Fiesta Internship
January-February 2004

This internship is designed specifically for young
artists interested in functionalceramics. The Chili
Bowl Intern works closely with WSW’s Clay Program
Coordinator,Ayumi Horie, preparing for our Annual
Chili Bowl Fundraiser. Every year near the endof
February, WSW warms up our local community by
presenting over 800 hand made bowls and tumblers for
sale to hold the chili, cornbread, and lemonade
donated by area restaurants. The revenue from this
popular fundraiser goes into the ceramics program to
buy and maintain equipment and subsidize
fellowships.

Intern duties include
(but are not limited to):

* wheel throwing and glazing bowls and tumblers for
Chili Bowl
* helping community members throw, handbuild, and
glaze bowls
* loading and firing electric kilns
* maintaining ceramics studio and equipment

Interns work full time, and are encouraged to use the
studios after work hours.Interns may seek advice
and/or instruction from the staff concerning their own
work.Housing and a $150/month stipend is provided. All
meals and material expenses are the responsibility of
the intern. We have a staff pot luck lunch each work
day that we all contribute to. Having a car,
especially in the winter, is helpful. WSW's Intern
house is just two doors down from the Workshop.
Interns each have their own bedroom, but share other
spaces.
