Dear Gang: I have a student that wants to make a translucent white
earthenware. God, only knows why! Is there such a thing? Can frits be used
to make e-ware translucent.?
Thanks a bunch.
Cheers,
Tony

Hi Tony
There was an article in CM a long time ago about this. Could be early
80's or 70's. Maybe it was a Richard Behrens Artcile. I made up some
stuff that was mildly translucent, yes frits. It went from likeing to
crack a whole lot to slumped as I remember it.
Kurt Weiser did some cone 6 stuff and some bone china. Seems like he
also tried Zinc Borate but had all sorts of unexpected problems.
How about virtual lowfire? or bisqueing to cone ten then using
commercial glazes?
Tell em to try cone 6.
