itc and salt

Do(es) any of the versions of ITC protect against salt? I've been =
following the
thread about the thermocouple for a pyrometer, and having to protect it =
by
encasing it in stoneware? Would this not work to it's detriment as a =
"quick"=20
temperature measure, as the stoneware would not react as quickly to temp =
changes
as a thermocouple in "open" air? Seems that if ITC works, a thin coat=20
of what, 213? (the metal protector) would do the same thing, _and_ allow =
quick temp changes to show.

Any thoughts?
