Hi Paul,

Small thin Belts are neither costly nor hard to obtain, nor
hard to make for that matter.

'O' rings in my experience are very cheap and do not make
very good Belts either, on account of their stretch if they
are very long.

If you want to use a Sewing Machine Motor you could also use
a ('Leather') sewing Machine 'Belt' as is used on the
treadle kinds.

You could use a long Leather 'Lace' or a long Boot-Type Shoe
Lace as many Shoe repair or sporting goods stores sell.

You could use about any fairly resilient cordage for that
matter...you could treat the cord with rosin if you like, or
not...

You could contact 'Boston Gear' or similar outfits for
'real' honest to goodness official industrial small size
(round or 'Vee' or flat ) Belts as well, and spend somethig
like the price of a sandwhich for one. Maybe a Sandwhich and
Coffee...

Since your device, were you to employ a Sewing Machine
Motor, is not very powerful, why not just obtain some very
light Rope or Cord and fashion a little coupler for it's
ends, maybe out of some fishing Tackle doo-dad, or just use
some stout Thread and a Needle and lace a butt-joint into
the cord's ends, and just go with that?

You'd be done with it tonight...!

It would last forever...

And cost about nothing...

Best wishes,

Phil
