emergency element repair

There are a couple of ways to do a temporary emergency repair on a
broken element. One is to bridge the gape with another piece of element
wire. Picture a one inch or so length of coiled element, you would put
it into the area where the broken gape is and allow the spiral of the
wires to overlap and touch.

Another way is to heat both sides of the break to red heat with a
propane or some other kind of torch and stretch them a bit to overlap.

The electric current is supposed to weld them together. I would only
use these as temporary fixes.
