It is so good to keep reminding folks of hazards. I am 60 and was a semi-
professional pottery firing raku a lot, from 33-48 (15 yrs, gap of 10 years.)
I have asthma now, low lung capacity and my allergist at first thought it
might be allergies, but kept sayint to me that surely I have been around 2nd
hand smoke. Nope. Never around smokers. It took me a while (duh) to realize
that it must be from firing raku for 15 years, with no though of wearing a
mask. Everyone please keep on being careful, cautious! (I am back into
pottery again, for the pure pleasure of it. but no raku ever again!)
