lengthening a brent pedal wire

I built a raised table and stand for my Brent C and the wire from the pedal
to the desired location on the table top is too short. Does any one know
what size wire to use and is there some kind of splice device to join the
wires without going the wire nut and tape routine? Thank you all in advance.

Replace the entire wire. Take the old one to the hardware store and
increase the wire size or call the factory. Brent is helpful on the
phone. Its often cheaper to buy a good quality extension cord and cut
off the plugs than to buy utility cord by the foot.

Donald:
Been there, just done that...
The wire size is 18 gauge. You can get a new piece of wire at any home
store
or hardware store in a 3 conductor version (like a lighter appliance cord,
for
say, a mixer. Make SURE it's three conductor...you want the ground.)

Better to replace the whole thing (it's cheap...about $0.20 a foot) than
take a
chance on splicing a wire in a possibly wet environment. You might want to
consider
buying a cheap orange outdoor extension cord...a 25 footer. That might be
cheaper than buying cut length of wire, depending on where you shop.
You can get the
appropriate terminal ends for each end from the same store. Unplug the
wheel from the wall, and then take the covers off but leave the wires
connected (!) so that you can see what you will need _before_ you go shop.

If you don't want to go that route, your local Radio Shack can sell you
something
called an "inline splice". Looks like a tube, you stick one end of the
stripped wire
in each end and mash it with a tool or a pliers.
Match the wire colors, black, white and green to each other. You will still
need electrical tape
though, to protect the wire from moisture. Buy extra splices (trust me, they
don't always
work the first time, especially if you're using a pliers to mash them.)

Hope that helps,
