Dear Clayarters,

What a waste of maple syrup. Karo Syrup is sticky and a lot cheaper. You
can always heat your pot and thicken your glaze. I usually have CMC in my
glaze anyway so it works well for reglazing. You shouldn't have to fire the
pot much hotter as the glaze has already been melted and through my
experience, the second firing just needs to be a tad hotter.

Heard from Karl Martz's son Eric who is in the middle of collating the works
of his father, notes from his life and other interesting facts. Check it
out. http://www-unix.oit.umass.edu/~emartz/martzpots/kmbib.htm Karl used to
write for Ceramics Monthly sharing his experiments with glazing and his
work.
