minigama kiln

I think I need to be more clear about the
resource of the minigama kiln book.

The book was a translation of a design
of Mr. Yoshida.
Imagine if you will an anagama kiln that
is about 20 inches long...a stacking space
of perhaps a cubic foot....
the fuel source of perhaps 30 lbs. of charcoal.
The demands on your time of 2-3 hours...
the opportunity to build a kiln and fire
anywhere on a whim...no problem moving the structure....
A great opportunity to refine design features...
firing strategies...the logic is reduced to micro
scaled details.

So Naoko Gomi has an email...

naokojee@yahoo.com

get in touch with her and see what she can offer...
the little booklet is a jewel...

I posted information about the kiln
last spring. So there would be information
listed in the archieves.

I saw an program on TV in Japan about a kiln made from
wet newspaper. As the paper dries it burns, providing
fuel for the ceramics to fire. I don't know of the
heats or times involved...it was all in Japanese.
Sounds like a great way to involve children in
ceramics, for schools etc, especially if they don't
have a lot of money.
