Sheron

I am around the beltway from National Airport just outside of
Annapolis but I have to go there to pick people up.

National Airport (It will take me a few more years to get used to the
name change) is located in the middle of the one of the more
interesting, challenging, okay crazy traffic interchanges on the
capitol beltway. there are 4 to 10 lanes of traffic on each side of
the road in that area so the signs can be confusing because of the
braided effect of the beltway where the highways intersect. try to
avoid rush hour, from about 3:30 to 6:00, allow an extra hour for
missing exits and needing to back track. get Mapquest directions and
print them out in large easy to read type. But make sure that you have
a map in the car so that you can figure out where you are when you get
lost. if you get lost or confused and stop at a service station for
direction, be aware that DC is rather an international area so there
are a great many non DC/Northern VA natives, and a lot of them have
minimal English, or have not been in the area long enough to give good
directions.

also when you get to the airport itself, security procedures will
determine where you can park, and what parts of the airport you can go
into. And this tends to change(tighten up depending on world
situations and who might be using the airport) without much warning.

I know that this is probably not as helpful as you need and I am
concentrating on the things that are problems, but perhaps some of the
Northern Va people can be more helpful.

Good luck and a safe trip.

Millie in Md my goals are always to not end up on the Dulles toll road
or the pentagon parking lot when I have to go to National. And it is
finally really summer here, lots of sun, low humidity,

My daughter who lives in Alaska has,
as we say, pulled a fast one on us.
Without much notice she has decided
to come home bringing with her a dog.
The only airline willing to fly a dog at
this point in time is Alaska Airlines,
and the closest they can get her to us
is Washington DC at Reagan INternational
Airport. My dear husband will have to leave
in the morning and drive to DC to meet her.
This is going to be about an 8 hour drive
from where we live in North Carolina.
If anyone of you live near DC and have
any tips, warnings or suggestions concerning
traffic and location of airport, please email me
at gemini53@weblnk.net. Any suggestions
would be most helpful. We do know he will
take interstate 95 to WAshington DC.
Much Thanks,
