lowfire clay inferior

the terms 'inferior ' and 'superior' are entirely subjective.

In the town of Agost, in southern Spain they traditionally make/made
wheel thrown 'botillos'
(and Marcia knows more about the history of this than I do)
unglazed, lowfired buff clay, water containers,
with very narrow spouts.
You drink from them by holding them about 8 inches from the mouth
tipping them up till a delicious jet of cold water
fills your mouth
The porosity of low fire clay allows water to evaporate through the
clay
which keeps the water cool
much like those canvas 'desert' water bags.
in this case , the porosity of the low fire clay
is why it cools water so well

making it 'functionally' superior
in this case.

Don't we love this stuff?
something for everyone.

Hi Stephany,

Certainly...

Unlesss the specifis intentions or purposes for something
are stated, it makes little sense to attribute globally the
status of 'superior' or 'inferior'...

Allways in language...when the parentheticals or qualifying
supports are left out...confusions accrue.

The 'best'...the
'worst'...'right'...'wrong'...'superior'...'inferior'...and.
..one is seldom informed as to the 'for-what'...

Hence absurdity and confusions as (appearant) belief, and as
pass for knowledge.

Yours,
