For those of you who seldom procrastinate ...
even concerning chores you loathe... this
post is not for you. For the rest of us who DO
Put Off Until Never whenever we possibly can,
Lana's article, "Defying Procrastination," is a
practical and helpful read. Hits me Big Time,
at any rate.

I've occasionally written on ClayArt about how
important Ten Minutes are to me when Ugly
Chores call ..... how I ten minutes a room .....
twenty-five items a project .... such as even
emptying
and filling the dishwasher..... cleaning the
studio ... you who are
reading and Should Not Be, won't understand.....
but you CAN take the onus off tasks and COMPLETE
them by such action.

At any rate, Lana's column discusses the
identification of signs of procrastination and
how to overcome your longing to Put Off that
which you need to do .... with specific
reference to potters ....

I have Lana's tapes, have been influenced by
them and now
am pleased, as always, to find revealed just
a little more of the Whole Lana .... a woman
after my own heart.=20

I've often .... too often.....
informed #1 Support Person that "I'm ten-minutes-
ing now" ..... and "my ten minutes are important!"
so such and such will have to wait its turn. He,
who would never understand WHY anybody can't
pull anything apart, make it right, and put it
back together in one fell plan .... "you just start
and work till its done..." goes away muttering,
sometimes spluttering "Don't understand how you
ever get anything done ..... but somehow you
manage.... maybe an oracle will explain THAT
to me." Yes, I get a heck of a lot done ... and
most projects intrigue me, it's true.... but
by using the Ten Minutes Plan
when the crunch arrives, the rest succumb also....
used it at work and at home and now in the studio.

In the Mojave on my way to visit the cactus folk
from Barstow who are back on the corner in=20
town again this weekend ....... hot, hot, hot
but worth braving the heat storm ...... no guests
this 4th of July with the laundryroom sinks and
the big ol' castiron, clawfooted bathtub on the
patio full of ice for drinks .... #1 not well enough...
we will sit out under the incredible night sky and
watch the fireworks from 15 miles away .... that's
the way the desert works..... can see far and
beyond .... wonder what's happenin' in Aberystwyth ...

Dear Joyce,
She resonates ...and then some! Can we make Lana an honorary member of
Clayart? Her column just may make the NY Times Best Seller list!

Nice for us to hear from you. We miss you. Glad to hear that other places
are hot too!
