grey-pink glaze mystery

Well, you guys were right. If you remember my question from a week or so
ago about two of three of my clear glaze recipes producing a pink color from
grey Mason stains, you'll remember that several people said that this was
caused by the presence of MgO in the glaze.
I just unloaded a test that proved you were right. I replaces the small
amount of dolomite in one of them (the one that made the pinkest color) with
whiting, and it came out grey. This is the one that had 0.1 MgO, and the
other one had 0.06 MgO. I wouldn't have thought that would be enough to
have much of an impact on color, especially the color of a commercial stain,
but it appears it is.
Thanks for the advice.
