Will one scenario wear out the elements quicker than the other?


Unlikely to make a significant difference either way.
The 'reload while warm' scenario may create slightly
less stress on the elements and the refractories, but
I doubt it would be a very large difference. On the
other hand, loading while warm could create more stress
for the human!

I would let it cool until unloading and reloading are
comfortable. There's no reason to let it sit longer,
but no harm done either.
