Stacy's says ........

"I have not gone and checked out the sites, yet. I was the one who asked
for info. , mentoring, discussions, anything to help me better market my work.
I will check out the sites soon....but with lower expectations (which I think
might be a good thing)"

Why on earth should you lower your expectations?
You haven't even seen the resources for yourself so please don't go in with a closed
mind!

"I am disappointed a what little feed back and/or support is out there to help people
market their art."

Again, how can you be disappointed with something you have not even taken the time to
go see???? There is TONS of feedback and support available out there but no one is
going to come knocking on your door to see if you might need some.

"I am going to do everything I can to educate people that you can make a honest living
as a full time artist."

How can you give other people faith in their ability to succeed without believing it first
yourself?

It makes me a little crazy to hear this kind of negative talk when I know how many forums
there are on the internet .... full of working artists who willingly share and mentor
beginning artist with all aspects of business.

These are people who are full of terrific ideas. I have followed their conversations for
years. They care and they give great advice. All of it for free... but you have to go there,
they don't randomly make house calls.

Clayart is not 'the place' to look for business advice. It is fabulous for what it is ... a clay
discussion site ... but you have to take some time to look elsewhere. One site cannot do
everything for everyone.

You have to work as hard at running your business as you do at learning your craft.
There is no magic formula, no crystal ball .... its work, hard work.

So please do the work before you predict the outcome.

Hi Cris,
Well, I think you misunderstood me. I'm not that pessimistic and I always keep an open mind. I have had a hard time finding the information I have been looking for 'cause the web is so HUGE. I am new to all this and so getting certain information hasn't come a quickly as I thought it might.....that's all. My whole idea for getting on the web and searching out "like minded people" is because I believe no one is going to come knocking at my door. You have found all these wonderful sites with artists selling their work, I just didn't know where to look. Now, that I am getting some feedback, I am getting the info. that I was looking for. (I had just been looking for about 1 month and hadn't really found anything, so I started getting a little discouraged...that's all) so...I am checking out the places people have told me about and would love anymore feedback/information from anyone/anytime. and I am doing the hard work, been doing it for 5 years (craft shows, fairs, etc.) I just traveling down a new road, lookin' for more information.
Thank for your time,
Stacey Ballard
