Hi Clayart,
In 1975 or 76 I wrote a glaze calculation program. It ran on the main
frame at the University of Michigan. Unlike Hyperglaze and Insight, it
was not interactive. You put in your unity formula typed on punch cards
and it output a recipe. No choice of ingredients was available. It was
not very remarkable, but it worked. But you don't have to figure out a
calculation order, and more importantly it balances Potash and Soda, so
long as your proportions can be met from Custer and Neph Sy.

I recently rewrote it in php a web friendly language and posted it to a
website:

http://falcon.tamucc.edu/~lkatz/gc1/input.htm .

As it now stands it will work only formulas that can be made of Custer
Feldspar, Neph Sy. Calcium Carbonate, Dolomite, Strontium Carb.,
Barium Carb. , Lithium Carb. EPK, Silica, Ultrox, CadyCal, Red Iron
Oxide.

I have plans to add a frit picking subroutine to it and to do a better
job at taking care of trace elements. I will also add a finished unity
formula to show the formula of the finished recipe sp that the minor
differences are visible.
