Dear Barry Chlypavka,

You ask how to get the following recipe to behave at cone 8 or 9

F4> 5

custer> 3

dolomite>3

talc> 3

whiting> 0.4

Ball clay> 2

Silica. 3.6

standard black oxide load.

My suggestions are as follows;

1st Do not change the recipe but, hold or retard the heating as cone 8 =
starts to go over. Allow more time for the chemistry to complete and the =
glaze to settle. Might mean waiting a couple of hours longer.

2nd Recalculate the glaze to eliminate potential causes of gassing, that =
is, the Whiting and the Dolomite. Get rid of them. Recalculate your =
glaze to the same Unity Formula substituting Wollastonite and more Talc.
