Darlene, the filter in a shop vac is not adequate to insure that all
particulates that enter the hose are filtered out. In the case of normal
stuff that the vac would be used on, this is no big deal. If used for a
spray booth any glaze particles that got past the filter in the vac would
be aggressively dispersed by the vac's exhaust into your studio. Also,
I doubt that you will get enough air velocity at the opening of your
spray
booth using a shop vac.
Another consideration...shop vacs are hellishly noisy!
If you want to filter your spray booth exhaust and recirculate the air
within your studio you should use at least a HEPA filter. A filter
of this type with enough capacity for a spray booth will be pretty
expensive.
