reversing switch for existing wheels

For anyone thinking about rewiring an existing wheel to add
reverse rotation capability, please be VERY careful and
consider the following:
1. If you inadvertently bump the switch from one direction
to the other while running, it will destroy the speed control.
I would recommend mounting the switch in such a position
that it is not likely to be activated unintentionally. Remember
that you MUST let the wheel come to a complete stop and
turn the power off before reversing. Please note that this
applies only to controls wired with a simple DPDT switch.
2. If the switch is wired incorrectly, it can destroy the speed
controller when you attempt to turn the wheel on. If you are
not familiar with electrical wiring I strongly suggest that you
have an electrician do the job...it would take well under an
hour, probably cost you seventy-five bucks or so. It will
certainly cost less than a new speed control.
3. If you purchased your wheel recently, you might void the
warranty by messing with the wiring.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
