I am so happy to see this post. After coming in and out of the clay =
world for various reasons, I have accumulated little bits and pieces of =
all sorts of chemicals and am now trying to duplicate the lovely glazes =
I used when I was working at pots every day. We have moved since then =
and that was 25 years ago. What glaze calculator do you reccommend? =
Other than the usual variances (water, clay humidity etc.) how can I =
know if my chemicals are still viable? Any info would be most helpful. =
thanks joan

hello Burt. If your chemicals are dry I belive most of them are as good as they were 20
years ago.
Until recently I used chemicals of a potter that passed away 30 years ago.
In order not to reinvent the wheel I give you some links:
http://www.milkywayceramics.com/links/dirSub.asp?catid=1&subid=74
and
http://www.masteringglazes.com/Pages/GM1frame.html
After you visit these sites go to:
http://lsv.ceramics.org/scripts/wa.exe?S2=clayart&L=CLAYART&q=&s=glaze+software&f=&a=1998&b=

If you have recipes with materials that are not available anymore you can try and
reproduce them with the glaze calculating software

Hi Joan,

I amswered this to you directly but it came back.

Is this question addressed to me?

There are many calculators on the market - I use Insight and Johns
Hesselberts new program. Let me know off line if you need more on this.
