Well lesseee....
The art biz is kinda like trading stocks....When stocks are bought, =
the buyer usually buys stock in a company that he believes has a good =
product and good prospects for the future(how about Harley =
Davidson?)....Well...the company just announced a record breaking =
quarter!....Yehaw thinks the stock owner.....Then along comes some =
meathead analyst and downgrades the stock(maybe the wuss rides a =
moped)....no reason given...just a press release that says in HIS =
opinion the future for the stock is not so bright.....Then the company =
which has shown steady growth for 60 or so years has it's stock sold by =
all the sheep who listen to the"experts"....The stock price goes =
down...The investor loses money....Fortunately for me, good ol' Harley =
stock will not stay down long.....
In the art biz the same thing happens.....only the "experts"HEHEHE =
own the work they promote(they made it)....and it is in their interest =
to squash the competition....This makes it far more suspicious than =
meathead stock analysts, because they aren't allowed to deal in the =
stock they are analyzing.....The art "experts"HOHOHO dictate to the =
galleries and NEA; competition is effectively squashed and the public is =
spoon-fed fertilizer......The new blood with talent finds something to =
do with his life where the oppression and exploitation is not quite so =
fierce.....Of course some swallow the party line and learn to kiss ass =
properly and become "experts" themselves....
I still am here creating kickass art, that I have developed over a =
lifetime of independent study, and I don't care WHAT the experts would =
like me to think.....
I value the opinion of me, myself and I far above that of the so =
called experts in my art and stock trading....I do OK with my investing =
in stocks.....My investment in art has been a little more =
problematic...As I said, the deck is double stacked ....
PAX,
Rush
No names named except good ol' Harley...just the view from my chair...
"I only indulge when I've seen a snake, so I keep a supply of =
indulgences and snakes handy"
