Dear Friends,
I realise that this may have been done to death in recent weeks but here =
is some useful information for those who are just starting to study =
Glaze Formulation.
If you go to E. Cooper and D. Royle, "Glazes for the Studio Potter" Ch =
7, Adapting Formulating and Correcting Glazes : p 91 you will find =
useful information which should be reviewed critically. There is given =
for guidance a series of tables which provide the maximum proportions of =
the various oxides for RO/R2O, Al2O3 and SiO2 for five temperature =
intervals from 1200 - 1300 deg Celsius (2192 -2372 F).
Opposite the preceding page (89) is a colour illustration of a triaxial =
blend test where the results look suspiciously like descriptions I have =
read relating to Shino surfaces!!
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
